When do I install my eSIM on my Samsung

When do I install my eSIM on my Samsung?

It’s important to install your Samsung eSIM when you have a strong Wi-Fi or data connection to avoid installation errors. (Seriously, crummy airport Wi-Fi isn’t good for this.)

If you’ve bought a Samsung eSIM data package to use on an upcoming international trip, we recommend you install your eSIM while you’re still at home so you can make sure it’s your eSIM is installed correctly before you leave the country. (Did we mention how bad airport Wi-Fi is?)

What if I’m already travelling?

Don’t worry! You can also install your Samsung eSIM when you’re already travelling internationally and you want to begin using eSIM data right away.

Just make sure you have a decent Wi-Fi or data connection while you install your Samsung eSIM (instructions below) so the process isn’t interrupted, since eSIMs can only be installed once.

Will my data package activate as soon as I install my Samsung eSIM?

Nope! If you’ve bought an eSIM data package for another country and you’re installing your eSIM while you’re still at home, your Samsung won’t be able to reach any of those networks, so there’s no risk of your data package activating unless you go into your aloSIM app and activate it manually.

Even if you’ve bought an eSIM data package for the country you’re currently in, your Samsung still isn’t going to automatically activate your eSIM data package. You need to complete the activation steps before it can connect to a supported network.

How to install your Samsung eSIM from aloSIM

Once you’ve purchased a eSIM data package from aloSIM, you’ll install your eSIM (digital SIM card) on your Samsung device so it’s ready when you need it.

It’s recommended to install your eSIM while you have a strong Wi-Fi or data connection, so you can do this while you’re still at home (prior to travelling).

step 4

Your Samsung eSIM has been installed!

Once your Samsung eSIM from aloSIM has finished installing, you’ll be returned to the “SIM (card) manager” screen and you’ll see your eSIM in the list. Now it’s ready whenever you’re ready to activate your data package.

Samsung eSIM installation _ Rename your eSIM (recommended)
step 5

Rename your eSIM (recommended)

Since you might be installed multiple eSIMs for multiple countries or regions, it’s a good idea to rename your eSIM so you can tell them apart. We named this one “aloSIM CAN” so we know it’s a Canada eSIM.
